Better Business Bureau of South Central Louisiana Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Award for Ethics In Business

The Better Business Bureau is honored to open for nominations the 2007 Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Awards for Ethics in Business.  These annual awards were established in 2001 in memory of Douglas Manship, Sr. to recognize outstanding Baton Rouge – area businesses. 

The award is open to all for-profit businesses that serve Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, Tangipahoa, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana Parishes.

Nominees for the 2007 Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Awards for Ethics in Business must be in business for at least three (3) years and will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges against the following criteria:

• High ethical standards of behavior toward customers, suppliers, employees and the communities in which they do business;
• Demonstrated ethical practices surrounding their buyer/seller relationships.
• Marketing, advertising, communications and sales practices which reflect a true representation of the marketplace;
• Acknowledgement of ethical marketplace practices by peers and in communities where they do business;
• Ethics policies that are effectively communicated to employees;
• Ethics policies that are designed to give long-term value to shareholders, customers, etc.
• Training programs that assist employees in carrying out established ethics policies.

The 2007 Douglas Manship, Sr. Torch Awards for Ethics in Business will be awarded to four (4) businesses, representing categories based on business size.  The winters will be honored at the 2007 Torch Awards Banquet on October 23, 2007.

Following is a nomination form which should be completed and returned by July 16, 2007.
